Artsy-Craftsy Strawberries

How were the holidays for you? I hope everything was merry and bright!! I was blessed to spend a lot of time with my family this Christmas and my husband and I were able to share this special time with our daughter. Nothing is more amazing then a first Christmas. 🙂 Many cookies were eaten and presents exchanged- and among some of these presents were easy…yet meaningful DIY gifts. What is better than a present filled with homemade TLC.

The following was spotted on Pinterest and I am pleased to say…is one of the first successfully completed ideas I’ve found on that site. Haha.

Strawberry Rocks:

With a simple collection of strawberry sized rocks…from your backyard…or a craft store you can easily make this cute and useful set of stones.

Now WHY you ask would I want to paint some rocks to look like strawberries?…
….It’s just a bit of trickery for the wildlife…

When placed among your strawberry plants in the spring…the birds will try to eat them, only to find they’re not that tasty…then when the real strawberries begin to come in the birds will already have given up on your plants…thinking they’re a bunch of colorful rocks….annnnnd MORE STRAWBERRIES FOR YOU!

Here’s some simple steps:

1. Wash the rocks first in some warm soapy water to make sure all the dirt and/or dust is off them.
2. I used a quality acrylic paint. It covers thick and dries fast.
3. Paint the strawberries!!!

And since these were a gift to my mom I included some simple instructions.
