Eagles Fly Where Boats Swim

A recent commission of mine was also a brand new surface to paint on, one that I had never painted on before…

A DRAG BOAT.

The man who owned this boat is a good friend of my mother. He had a specific idea of what he wanted painted on his boat, which for me, made the job a WHOLE lot easier. It is always a challenge when your client says, “Paint whatever you like.” or “Come up with something good.” THAT is nerve-racking, because WHO KNOWS what the client is going to like. Sometimes you can have an entire idea planned out then in the end you have to change something because they aren’t satisfied with it. Well, in this case, he was totally satisfied.

The boat was freshly painted white, and ready to be decorated. The photos below will show you how it started, and how it ended.

“Never say no to an opportunity. ANY opportunity is a GOOD opportunity.”

(Who knows how many guys in the marina will want me to paint THEIR boats next spring…)
